Programme Overview

The Adult Madrassah programme consists of two complementary learning pathways — the Qur’an Pathway and the Islamic Sciences Pathway — allowing you to progress in both recitation and understanding.

Qur’an Pathway

Expand each level to view the topics covered.

An introduction to the Arabic letters, their correct pronunciation (makhārij) and the essential building blocks needed to begin reading the Qur’an with confidence — including letter recognition, short and long vowels, and joining letters.

Developing fluency in reading the Qur’anic script — connecting letters and words, reading with accuracy, and building the ability to read passages of the Qur’an independently.

Learning the rules of Qur’anic recitation — the characteristics of the letters, elongation (madd), nasalisation (ghunnah), and the rules of noon and meem sākinah — in order to recite the Qur’an correctly and beautifully.

A structured approach to memorising the Qur’an, beginning with the shorter chapters and building towards larger portions, with a strong emphasis on regular revision and long-term retention.

Islamic Sciences Pathway

Explore the subjects below. Expand each subject to view its curriculum.

Develop a sound understanding of the core beliefs of Islam, including the purpose of creation, the Oneness of Allah, the pillars of faith, and the principles that shape the Muslim worldview. Students also explore key theological concepts, historical developments, and contemporary challenges affecting Muslim belief and identity.

Learn the practical aspects of worship and daily life in Islam through a structured study of Islamic jurisprudence. Topics include purification, prayer, fasting, charity, pilgrimage, family matters, and contemporary issues, while gaining an appreciation for the diversity and richness of the Islamic legal tradition.

Study the sayings, actions, and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to understand their central role in Islam. Students explore selected prophetic traditions, their meanings and applications, as well as the methods through which the scholars preserved and authenticated the Sunnah.

Develop a deeper connection with the Qur’an through the study of its meanings, themes, and guidance. Students learn how scholars have interpreted the Qur’an throughout history and explore selected chapters and passages with practical lessons for everyday life.

Discover the life, mission, and character of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, from the beginning of revelation to the establishment of the Muslim community. Emphasis is placed on the timeless lessons and practical guidance that can be drawn from his life.

Learn through the inspiring stories of the Prophets, the Companions, great scholars, and significant moments in Islamic history. These narratives provide valuable lessons in faith, perseverance, leadership, and service to humanity.

Strengthen your spiritual connection with Allah through the study and practice of daily supplications, remembrance of Allah, and acts of worship that nurture the heart and develop spiritual awareness.

Cultivate the noble character and values taught by Islam, including sincerity, patience, gratitude, humility, and compassion. Students also explore personal development, community responsibility, and the ethics of interacting with others.
